The Wainikoriiluva ('luva) River adventure combines five unique Fijian experiences into a fantastic one-day trip! Begin with an overland journey into the Namosi Highlands, which takes you through the island's mountainous rainforest interior. Atop jungle passes, enjoy breathtaking views out to sea before descending into the beautiful and peaceful Namosi Valley. This tropical paradise is home to the quaint village of Nakavika, where you're welcomed as a friend with a village visit and a traditional kava ceremony in the home of the chief.

'luva village
A short walk brings you to the 'luva River, where you take charge of your own inflatable kayak. After a brief training session, you're off to play in the Class II whitewater and rock mazes of the 'luva. As your island adventure continues, you'll enjoy a riverside picnic lunch followed by a fun hike through lush surroundings to spectacular Wainuta Falls, where a refreshing dip in the pristine pool beneath awaits. Add this to the thrill of paddling the 'luva's rolling waves and exciting chutes, and you have a fun and diverse river adventure!
hike

'luva longboat
At the confluence of the 'luva and Upper Navua rivers, board a motorized longboat for the remainder of your trip down the Navua Canyon. Winding downstream, you're treated to cascading waterfalls, lush rainforest, village life, and an occasional glimpse of the fruit bat, harrier hawk, kingfisher, parrot and heron that make this canyon their home.

FOOD & SNACKS: We suggest that each guest eat a hearty breakfast before departure. En-route we will provide you with a light snack and beverage before setting out on the river. Part way through our journey our guides will locate a suitably scenic and comfortable spot for lunch on the river. The Rivers Fiji lunch consists of a deli spread typically consisting of cold cuts, cheeses, seasonably fresh vegetables, fruits, fresh bread, assorted cookies, chips and other condiments. Juice and water will also be made available during lunch.

During your return trip back to your hotel, we provide another light snack, soda, and cookies. If you have specific dietary needs please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

WHAT TO BRING: Sunscreen, sun hat, sunglasses, swimsuit, shorts, T-shirt, bottle of water, dry change of clothes for the return trip back to your hotel and last but not least a good pair of river shoes. Sandals with a heel strap are ok, but a pair of comfortable tennis shoes (you do not mind getting wet) will likely serve you better on any side hikes. You will be able to store your dry clothes and any valuables in our coach that meets us at take-out at the end of the day. We also suggest that you bring along a bottle of water. While we provide water and other refreshment as part of our trips it is often more convenient for you to keep a bottle with you in your boat. Please read the section on cameras and videos for comments and concerns should you elect to bring them on this adventure.
